German engineering and Yorkshire stubborness all the way!
For some reason the engine refused to start after a long lay up,
so off came the carb for a clean and some fresh petrol was put in the tank.
Helga started, ran then stopped, refusing to re-start.This was the culprit,
it's a tiny 7mm long woodruff key that locates the fly wheel on the crankshaft. Having split it allowed
the flywheel to move, causing the timing to shift so far out that the spark was almost at
bottom dead centre! A new one is on order...
After months of work and set backs I finally managed to get the engine running smoothly.
The new key fitted perfectly and the timing seems OK, so..
Next stop is a new reg number.
